Kelly began working in maternal/child health as a Bradley Natural Childbirth Educator and La Leche League Leader. She then began accompanying families to births in the role of doula and as an out-of-hospital birth assistant to Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNM), serving families at home and at a local CNM-owned birth center – Birth Care and Women’s Health. She then pursued midwifery and received a Masters of Science in Nursing and a Doctorate in Nursing Practice, both from Frontier Nursing University (FNU). She is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and is a current board member of the International Board Lactation Consultants Examiners (IBLCE), as well as the board of the Monetary Investment for Lactation Consultant Certification (MILCC), the scholarship arm of IBLCE. She has taught nursing students at George Mason University, medical students at Ft. Belvoir Community Hospital and nurse midwifery students from Georgetown University and FNU. She has proudly served in the United States Army. Kelly is passionate about working with families so that they can make safe and healthy choices throughout their lifespans.
